April 2024: Nursing Content Update and a New Badging System

RN Content Updates

We're thrilled to share some exciting updates coming to the Osmosis RN content libraryWe're adding dozens of new videos that cover a variety of topics ranging from case studies and clinical skills to dosage calculation tutorials. Each video will feature NCLEX-style questions to enhance learning and test preparation.

More than 60 video case studies are now available, with each video offering an in-depth analysis and exploration of patient scenarios, utilizing the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (the basis of the Next-Gen NCLEX), delivering even more comprehensive and effective nursing content.

New dosage calculation videos are now available and address an area many nursing students struggle with. With these videos, learners get clear guidance and instruction on dosage calculations using various methods, making sure learners have a clear understanding and feel confident in this critical aspect of nursing practice.

And also, we hear you! Based on faculty and student feedback, we're also adding more nursing clinical skills, fundamentals, mental health, social determinants of health, maternal newborn, and medical-surgical topics.

These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to providing top-notch learning resources that educate and empower you to succeed in your program and future career. Stay tuned for more details as we roll out these fantastic additions to our RN product.

New Badging System

The Osmosis platform now features badges! As you dive into our content, answer questions, and watch videos, you're not just learning - you're also earning badges and celebrating your learning journey. You'll be recognized for every milestone you achieve with us. The best part? It's retroactive, so all of your previous accomplishments will be counted!

March 2024: Navigation Alignment, Addition of OBGYN Clerkship Content, and UK Nursing Content Adaption

We’re excited to announce an update to our MD and DO products! To enhance your learning experience, we’ve revamped our navigation to align with the latest NBME USMLE® Content Outline and the NBOME COMLEX-USA® Master Blueprint. These changes will make it easier to find the most relevant content when you need it.

Osmosis MD Product Updates

Foundational Sciences, Organ Systems, USMLE® Step 1 Review, and USMLE® Step 2 Review now align with the NBME USMLE® Content Outline.

The Clerkships section remains unchanged and continues to align with the US clerkship curricula.

Osmosis DO Product Updates

Foundational Sciences and Organ Systems have been reorganized and now match the MD product. COMLEX-USA® Level 1 and USMLE® Step 1 Review, as well as COMLEX-USA® Level 2 and USMLE® Step 2 Review, have been updated to align with the COMLEX-USA® Master Blueprint.

The Clerkships section also remains unchanged and continues to align with the US clerkship curricula.

Category Renaming

While no topics have been removed from the platform, you may notice some categories have been renamed, with new categories added, or topics reorganized into different sections. Here are some examples:

Biostatistics and epidemiology is now called Biostatistics, epidemiology, population health, and interpretation of the medical literature on the MD product and Epidemiology and population sciences on the DO product, ensuring alignment with the terms used by the NBME and NBOME.

New Categories Added

Human development has been added to USMLE® Step 1 Review and USMLE® Step 2 Review in the MD product.

Community health and patient presentations related to wellness have been added to COMLEX-USA® Level 1 and USMLE® Step 1 Review and COMLEX-USA® Level 2 and USMLE® Step 2 Review of the DO product.

Topic Reorganization

Topics related to the eye and ear can now be found under Nervous system and special senses in the MD product and Nervous system and mental health in the DO product instead of Eyes, ears, nose, and throat, ensuring alignment with the terms used by the NBME and NBOME.

Please note that this update does not include an update for the quiz builders, but we’re diligently working to integrate that feature in the near future.

Clinical Sciences Content Updates

Our Clinical Sciences content is expanding! We released Obstetrics and Gynecology clerkship content, with Pediatrics coming soon. Make sure to take some time to explore all of this new content if you're subscribed to the Osmosis Suite or the Clinical Sciences plan.

UK and Ireland Nursing Adaption

We've released a new Nursing product for the UK and Ireland that offers curated content across core subject areas that align with the local Nursing curriculum! We've included search terms that are specific to the region, as well as removing content that's not applicable (e.g. references to the NCLEX and other US-specific content).

February 2024: Expanding the Year of the Zebra

Rare Disease Content Continues in 2024

After an incredible 2023, we're continuing our Year of the Zebra work by sharing more content about rare diseases (or "zebras"), with new videos featuring real patients with rare conditions speaking about their experiences. Take some time to watch these new videos in the Osmosis app to develop more awareness about less common and often less-researched conditions.
