PTSD is associated with significant impairment of functionality and distress and poses an increased risk of suicidal ideation and attempt.&nbsp;<strong>Trauma-focused psychotherapy<\/strong>&nbsp;is the first-line management of patients with PTSD and is efficacious in improving this condition.&nbsp;<strong>Selective serotonin<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>reuptake inhibitors<\/strong>&nbsp;are the first-line medical treatment of PTSD.
