This helps them to thrive through their academic career and eventually reflects the desired impact on a better healthcare field. In this article, hear from Mohammad Aldalou, Palestine\u2019s founder and general director, about how his work attempts to embody this vision of an improved healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Osmosis is a medical education global movement that is oriented toward\u00a0<strong>transforming the way medical and health science students learn<\/strong>\u00a0with an inspiring vision and values that have truly changed a lot of my perspectives since I\u2019ve joined the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/omef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Osmosis Medical Education Fellowship Program<\/a>. I&#8217;ve observed the great potential that could be equipped through this movement; thus, I decided to take my responsibilities to the next level, applying the five values of Osmosis in different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Osmosis_Medical_Education_Network-Palestine\"><\/span>What is Osmosis Medical Education Network-Palestine?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Osmosis Medical Education Network &#8211; Palestine is an autonomous&nbsp;<strong>platform to recruit and gather Palestinian Medical students and medical education advocates<\/strong>&nbsp;who aspire to get equipped with sufficient tools to optimize the medical education process. It is dedicated to empowering a team of Palestinian leaders who are able to spread the Osmosis culture &amp; needed values to learners across the nation. It functions as a sub-community within Osmosis Medical Education Network, unlocking new tools and means to reach further, amplifying its overall vision, mission, and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Osmosis_Medical_Education_Network-Palestine\"><\/span>Why Osmosis Medical Education Network-Palestine?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I observed and touched the global dramatic revolution taking place in medical education. Our&nbsp;<strong>educational system is falling apart and malfunctioning<\/strong>&nbsp;when it comes to providing most of the basic tools\u2014mainly those related to professionalism\u2014which I readily got exposed to during my fellowship. I felt my colleagues&#8217; lack of capacities in this regard and the negative tangible impact it had on their academic careers. This was the reason that made me willing to introduce these perspectives and make an intervention through an organizational structure on the national scale with systemized approaches of recruitment strategies, action plans, databases, work regulations, and\u2014most importantly\u2014sustainability throughout the upcoming period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/plans\/md\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/2024-09-09T133739.007.png?w=700\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/2024-09-09T133739.007.png 700w, https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/2024-09-09T133739.007.png?resize=300,107 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_Osmosis_Medical_Education_Network-Palestines_objectives\"><\/span>What are Osmosis Medical Education Network-Palestine\u2019s objectives?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connecting and&nbsp;<strong>linking active Palestinian medical students<\/strong>&nbsp;across the nation with each other to exchange capacities achieving intradisciplinary collaboration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connecting and linking Palestinian medical students with&nbsp;<strong>international students<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;and professionals<\/strong>&nbsp;enrolled in Osmosis Medical Education Program, exposing them to different medical systems and experiences followed in other countries and areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advancing the student&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>understanding of different topics<\/strong>&nbsp;in medical education, career planning, and development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exposing the Palestinian medical students to&nbsp;<strong>scientific techniques of learning<\/strong>, providing them with the opportunity to educate themselves and their peers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Initiating a studying groups system<\/strong>&nbsp;for basic and clinical sciences among the Palestinian Medical Students using the Osmosis platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Empowering students&nbsp;<\/strong>to read and publish scientific articles and research by enhancing their theoretical and practical skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expanding<\/strong>&nbsp;the Palestinian medical students&#8217; knowledge on postgraduate opportunities and different examinations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_Osmosis_Medical_Education_Network-Palestines_focus_areas_and_methodology\"><\/span>What are Osmosis Medical Education Network-Palestine\u2019s focus areas and methodology?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OMEN-Palestine themes cover all major medical-students related interests and they are Medical Education, Research Education, Soft Skills, career development, focusing on three original osmosis pillars: Better Education, professionalism, higher efficiency. Enrolling them into the various events, workshops, lectures, panels that will be provided directly from the network or past opportunities from the Osmosis Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Empowerment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Achieving the vision of Osmosis comes through empowering the medical students with sufficient competencies, enabling them to demonstrate good knowledge and skills in medical education and curriculum. The tools of empowerment can vary as the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Resources and documents<\/strong>: Over the previous period, Osmosis has developed numerous sets of valuable resources on various topics\u2014some even with open access\u2014which will be sufficiently exposed and promoted to act as a sustainable source of knowledge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Events and workshops<\/strong>: Organizing interactive events and workshops on different topics throughout the year is another strong tool of empowerment. Speakers will vary between OMEF, Osmosis team members, specialized external experts, and even students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Online Campaigns<\/strong>: Different campaigns will be organized starting from introducing Osmosis, the network, the techniques followed in Osmosis, the license examinations\u2019 systems in different countries and the role of Osmosis, postgraduate opportunities, and other campaigns that can relate to the Osmosis values.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Studying Groups<\/strong>: Organizing multiple sets of studying groups for the basic and clinical sciences and linking them to the usage of Osmosis materials with continuous follow-up, monitoring, and encouragement. Then, discuss and propose the concept idea of your intended network to estimate the predicted engagement and turnout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second,&nbsp;<strong>recruit a number of your talented colleagues<\/strong>&nbsp;to be a focus group for managing and working on your network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Third,&nbsp;<strong>detect your stakeholders<\/strong>, your recruitment approaches, and through which platform you\u2019ll be functioning. Promotion (e.g., online introductory campaigns) and external representation are very good approaches to recruit your stakeholders (e.g., mainly your medical colleagues).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fourth,<strong>&nbsp;set your plans<\/strong>, goals, and objectives along with your focus group and start working on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fifth,&nbsp;<strong>keep monitoring<\/strong>, following up, and evaluating your progress and detect any needed changes or areas of improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sixth, you can solidify your structure by&nbsp;<strong>creating internal work regulations<\/strong>, communication guidelines, and databases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the whole process,&nbsp;<strong>keep in touch with our program team in Osmosis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About Mohammad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mohammad Aldalou is a sixth-year medical student at&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alazhar.edu.ps\/eng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Al-Azhar University Palestine<\/em><\/a><em>.
