This incomprehensible loss of life has once again highlighted the devastating impact that natural disasters often have on communities. With thousands dead and injured, and many more left homeless and in need of support, the international community must come together to provide aid and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Medical students have the potential to make a considerable impact on disaster relief efforts with their unique skills and healthcare expertise but are often overlooked as a resource. Let&#8217;s take a look at ways medical students can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Direct_Medical_Aid\"><\/span>Direct Medical Aid<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The obvious way that medical students can help is by providing some triage and initial treatment. Medical students who have completed their coursework and have some clinical experience can offer direct medical aid to victims and help assess their medical needs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best way to do this is by volunteering at disaster response centers in the affected areas.
