Many of the students we\u2019ve spoken to have compared histology to <strong>Where\u2019s Waldo?<\/strong> because histology challenges you to identify the tiniest details in a sea of tissue, which, at first glance, all look the same. Histology is also regarded as a very dry topic, but <strong>Osmosis<\/strong> is here to change that perception and show you that <strong>learning histology can be fun!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/library\/md\/foundational-sciences\/histology\"><strong>Osmosis Histology series<\/strong><\/a> consists of <strong>38 videos<\/strong>. GHASSAN TRANESH:<\/strong> The goal for this series is to create an <strong>approachable way to study histology<\/strong>, with <strong>clear explanations and bright visuals.<\/strong> However, it also offers a very <strong>deep dive<\/strong> into the topic, covering what medical, dental, and nursing students need to be ready to ace their exams. It&#8217;s very <strong>practical, exam-oriented,<\/strong> and <strong>easy to follow<\/strong>, step by step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DR. This creates a <strong>significant gap in their education.<\/strong> In addition, most histology teaching modules are very dry and not oriented to the clinical aspect. We made sure that all of these aspects are covered and very easy to grasp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>JL:<\/strong> I think Dr. Tranesh covered it pretty well! This series is about recognizing the <strong>importance of histology<\/strong> and how it\u2019s <strong>connected to and applies to other areas of medicine,<\/strong> like physiology, pathology, biochemistry, and anatomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/plans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/create\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/ad-general.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5903\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/ad-general.png 700w, https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/ad-general.png?resize=300,107 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_do_Osmosis_histology_videos_help_students_understand_this_topic\"><\/span>How do Osmosis histology videos help students understand this topic?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>T:<\/strong> These videos are very <strong>comprehensive and exam-oriented.<\/strong> They&#8217;re also very <strong>oriented to the clinical side<\/strong> of studying medicine\u2014this makes them very practical and really clarifies the reason why studying histology is important. <strong>Dr. Ling\u2019s illustrations<\/strong> are very simple and easy to understand, with multiple <strong>real microscopic pictures<\/strong> that correlate with human tissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>JL:<\/strong> All of the above, and they also occasionally point out relationships or connections between <strong>diseases\/pathology and their histology<\/strong> (I suppose it\u2019s technically histopathology) while explaining <strong>why and how one affects the other.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Liver: Histology\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NRxxyEgnWmo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>An example of an Osmosis histology video.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Do_you_have_any_advice_for_studying_histology_or_recommendations_for_effectively_using_Osmosis_to_study_it\"><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osmosis.org\/learn\/Histology:_Bone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a>Do you have any advice for studying histology or recommendations for effectively using Osmosis to study it?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>GT:<\/strong> I recommend <strong>watching the videos several times<\/strong> and then <strong>reading the script.<\/strong> If you\u2019re about to study for a big exam, I personally prefer reviewing histology at the beginning of your journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>JT:<\/strong> Everyone has their own <strong>study style<\/strong>, but I think after getting an understanding of histology from the <strong>Osmosis videos<\/strong>, it can be useful to study as many <strong>images of the same type of tissue<\/strong> as possible. That\u2019s because even with the same tissue, there\u2019s a decent amount of variation that can sometimes make them hard to identify or understand. However, with lots of <strong>repetition and viewing a lot of images<\/strong>, you can start to see patterns and recognize important features, even if an image isn\u2019t very clear.
