Summary
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is a common knee injury, especially among athletes. The ACL is one of the two cruciate ligaments that provide stability to the knee as a joint. It can be injured in several ways, but the most common is through a twisting motion when the foot is planted on the ground. This can cause the ACL to tear or rupture, resulting in pain and instability in the knee joint.
