Summary

Attention is a sustained and selective focus on one stimulus while ignoring others. It allows us to interact with our environment in a meaningful way. There are three main components of attention: selection, focus, and amplification. Selection is the process of identifying which stimuli we want to pay attention to. Focus is the process of maintaining attention to those stimuli. Amplification is the process of increasing the intensity or significance of those stimuli.
