Erysipelas is a rare bacterial superficial skin infection that most often occurs on the face or lower limbs. It is commonly caused by group A Streptococcus (S. pyogenes), and can be very serious if it's not treated right away. Symptoms include fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, and red, painful skin.
