Summary

Glycogen storage disease type IV, also known as Andersen's syndrome, is an autosomal recessive disorder in which the body makes abnormal glycogen molecules, which accumulate in cells and cause damage. In addition, glycogen cannot be broken down to provide energy. Glycogen storage disease type IV results in hepatomegaly, failure to thrive, cardiomyopathy, and hypoglycemia.
