Summary
Intestinal malrotation is a congenital abnormality that occurs when the intestines don't undergo normal intestinal rotation during embryonic development. This can lead to twisting of the intestines (volvulus), obstruction of the flow of food and fluid through the intestines, and bleeding. Symptoms vary depending on how severe the malrotation is, but can include pain in the abdomen, vomiting, constipation, and a swollen abdomen.
