Summary

Keratitis refers to the inflammation of the cornea, the clear dome-shaped structure that covers the front of the eye. The cornea is essential for clear vision, and when it becomes inflamed, vision can become blurred. Keratitis can have different causes, but usually, it's viral origin such as herpes simplex virus. Symptoms of keratitis may include eye pain, discharge from the eye, sensitivity to light, and blurred vision.
