Outbreak investigations

 Acute disease outbreaks are often due to single-exposure, common-vehicle situations. However, the epidemiologic picture can present differently when these variables change. An exposure to an infectious agent, whether it be direct or indirect, can happen once, multiple times, or continuously. A precise protocol has been implemented to investigate outbreaks as soon as they occur so they can be prevented in the future and managed in the present.
