Summary of Spondylolysis
Spondylolysis is a defect in the pars interarticularis of the vertebral arch, most often in the fifth lumbar vertebrae. It is the most common cause of chronic low back pain in adolescents, and is easily recognized on radiograph by the "Scotty-dog" sign.
