Summary

Tethered spinal cord syndrome (TSCS) is a neurologic disorder caused by an abnormal attachment of the spinal cord to the spinal canal. This attachment causes a stretching of the spinal cord, resulting in a variety of symptoms. Symptoms can include pain, weakness, changes in sensation, altered bladder and bowel control, and scoliosis. Treatment is focused on releasing the tension in the spinal cord and involves surgery and physical therapy.
