Derek Apanovitch

Chief Operating Officer

Derek Apanovitch is Chief Operating Officer of Osmosis. Most recently, Derek was Chief Executive Officer of Global Safety Management (GSM), a cloud-based provider of business software solutions for workplace and environmental safety. Derek also served as a Board Member at GSM, a venture capital backed SaaS company. Earlier, Derek was President Ultimate Medical Academy, an online healthcare training and continuing medical education organization committed to equipping and empowering students to excel in healthcare careers. The institution achieved industry leading student satisfaction scores and developed employer partnerships with prominent national and regional healthcare companies. Derek was the founding executive and first employee of the organization's online education division that eventually was responsible for over 85% of the organization's revenue. Earlier, Derek was an Executive Director of Marketing at Kaplan, Inc., a diversified educational services provider. Derek started his professional career as a lawyer with Sullivan & Cromwell where he had a healthcare transactional focus. Derek holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with concentrations in Health Industry Management and Accounting, a JD from the Duke University School of Law, and a BA Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Derek enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer and tennis, traveling, and reading science and history books.
