Ryan Haynes, PhD/MPhil
Chief Technology Officer & Co-founder
Ryan Haynes is the co-founder and chief technology officer of Osmosis.org, a leading health education platform with an audience of millions of current and future clinicians as well as their patients and family members. Ryan has had a long-standing interest in education. He first learned to code in order to build an online 3D math game to help students better visualize math concepts. In college, he created an 3D interactive linear algebra textbook. After graduating from Georgia Tech in 2006 with a degree in biomedical engineering, Ryan attended the University of Cambridge on a Marshall Scholarship where he received an MPhil in nanotechnology and a PhD in neuroscience. Ryan co-founded Osmosis while in medical school at Johns Hopkins to help his classmates learn medicine more effectively through employing cognitive science techniques like the testing effect and spaced repetition. He is currently involved in both product design and engineering. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, wake boarding, and reading.
