A 64-year-old woman presents to the emergency department due to worsening bilateral leg swelling. The patient first noticed swelling in both lower extremities last month. It has been worsening since then and lately it has been causing difficulty ambulating. Past medical history is significant for hypertension and morbid obesity. The patient’s only medication is losartan. Temperature is 37.4 ºC (99.3 ºF), pulse is 96/min, blood pressure is 132/85, respiratory rate is 18/min, and oxygen saturation (SpO2) is 90% on room air. On pulmonary auscultation, there are bibasilar crackles. There is moderate pitting edema of the lower extremities bilaterally up to the distal tibias. The patient’s skin is erythematous and cool bilaterally up to the distal tibias as well. Bilateral lower extremity ultrasound shows a non-compressible small saphenous vein on the right. Further workup is pending. Which of the following treatments is most appropriate at this time?
