A 24-year-old woman presents to the obstetrics/gynecology clinic for a routine well-patient visit. She has not been experiencing fever, pelvic or abdominal pain, or abnormal vaginal bleeding. Her last menstrual period started one week ago, and she has not been sexually active since. She has regular cycles. The patient is sexually active with one male partner, and they use condoms regularly. She does not drink alcohol or use other recreational substances.
