Dr. Dan Weberg: Head of Clinical Innovation at Trusted Health (Raise the Line)

Can you tell us a bit more about your background and what led you to pick nursing as a career and then go into health care innovation?
Yeah, I mean, II picked health care because I was sitting in a economics class at Arizona State University um trying to figure out supply and demand and um just like, couldn't wrap my head around sitting in a cubicle doing business uh forever.
And uh kinda reflected on what I liked in high school and I loved anatomy class. And so I went full on premed and I started doing all the O CM and all that kind of stuff.
And as I got into that, they said, well, you need a backup. If you're gonna go to medical school, not everyone gets in a medical school.
And I chose nursing as a backup, not really knowing what nursing was. And over the, the years that, uh, it came after that, I actually kind of dropped the premed stuff and got really into, uh, the, the idea of nursing and got into the program and, and fell in love with the profession.
For me, it's always been, you know, my career has always been if there's a cool opportunity and I have an, and, and it's more saying yes to that and just seeing where it takes you and never really having that much of a plan, um to, to have like a certain role.
And then, uh, I had an opportunity to be trusted as I helping Kaiser in their investment arm, uh, their venture capital arm and met Matt, uh, from, from trusted.
And I had a great conversation. I was looking for a change and trusted was growing quickly and, um, got some venture, they would just close their series a at the time and, um, was able to jump over and have been with the team since September really trying to disrupt the nursing workforce, which has been really fun given that we have so many early stage uh healthcare professionals in our audience at osmosis.
What's your advice to them about meeting the challenges of this moment and approaching their career in healthcare? Yeah, I think double down on it.
I think um I'm super excited about the, the, the next generation of leaders and healthcare uh professionals that are coming in.
I think they're being trained in a way that um that, that's different with, you know, interprofessional education being a forefront um better learning virtual reality.
So you're, you're gonna be coming out of your training um light years ahead of your mentors. And so um love, love and own that.
And then, you know, I think hone your skills in leadership, I think you'll, you'll get a lot of training in cli in your clinical decision making and, and, you know, that's the core of, of what you're gonna be doing.
But all that leadership training um that you can do on the side or, or that you kind of buzz over cause it's not on the boards.
I think you uh to kind of dive into that and because that's gonna be your differentiator. Um And, and I think if you can, if you can build up that leadership skills, the sky is the limit.
And um and so, II would say if you're, if you're finishing school or just about to finish school and enter the workforce leadership is your differentiator on that and um the, the better team you can build around you, the more successful that you will be and, and your, your clinical practice will be.
