Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome is a condition characterized by the inflammation of the liver capsule. It occurs following a bacterial infection of the pelvic cavity that often affects sexually active young women.
Symptoms of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome include pain in the lower abdomen, fever, and nausea. The condition is treated with antibiotics. Left untreated, Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome can lead to infertility or scarring of the reproductive organs.
