Andrea Cooley, DO, FACOS

Dr. Cooley is a cardiothoracic surgeon and medical educator in Tyler, TX. She graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete her general surgery residency with Michigan State University. She then completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern followed by an advanced fellowship in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery. She was in practice for 9 years before transitioning into medical education as the founding faculty for the University of Texas Tyler School of Medicine. She is the Director of Clinical Clerkships, Medical Director of Simulation, and Associate Program Director for the general surgery residency. She is a Harvard Macy Institute Scholar (Educators '22, Leaders '23). Her special interests include developing clinical reasoning skills, applying technology in medical education, and developing curriculum through the master adaptive learning model.
