General information
Ian Mannarino, MD, MBA
Osmosis Faculty Reviewer
Ian Mannarino (MD, MBA) studied medicine and business at the University of California, Irvine, completing both degrees in 2015. After finishing an internal medicine internship at UC Irvine, he trained as a clinical Anesthesiologist at Virginia Mason Medical Center until 2019. Prior to medical school, Ian graduated magna cum laude at UC Irvine and was awarded a BS in biological sciences in 2009. His experience as a medical educator began as a peer tutor in college, tutoring in subjects like Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physiology, and Calculus. After matriculating into medical school and completing both the USMLE step 1 and 2, Ian entered and won a competition hosted by Khan Academy. There, he began to create videos to help nursing students study for the NCLEX-RN exam. During this period, he created, edited, and produced 45 videos for the project and earned recognition among the "Next Generation of Health Educators" by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence in 2014. Though Ian shares both medical and business backgrounds, one of his main passions remains medical education. This led him to join Osmosis in 2019 as an Osmosis Faculty Reviewer where he edits and optimizes medical content for accuracy and clarity. Ian feels at home with the Osmosis team, collaborating with professionals to produce high quality content for medical students across the country. In his free time, Ian loves to explore the great outdoors, taking great pleasure in activities such as traveling, hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing. Maybe you'll catch him in New Zealand when he plans to take his next backpacking trip!
