Question Quality Initiative: Review, revision, and update of the Osmosis question bank

Our learners are our priority. So when it comes to making sure that the content on Osmosis is timely, relevant, and accurate, we don’t mess around! Check out the news about our freshly updated questions, quiz builder, and video realignment.

It’s been a very productive year at Osmosis, and we’re happy to share that our team has completed a question quality review, revision, and update of the Osmosis question bank. A thorough audit of thousands of board-style questions, the goal of the review was to ensure that every question is patient-first, inclusive, and aligned with what students need to know to be successful on their boards and exams. We even timed the update in-between terms to lessen the impact on our learners, ensuring that students have only high-quality items in their Osmosis quizzes as they start the new year (and new term).

Here’s what to expect!

New high-quality questions

More than 3,800 new, high-quality questions are being added to the Osmosis video library, including board-style questions accompanying Osmosis videos on Foundational Sciences (including Microbiology, Physiology, Biostatistics & Epidemiology, etc.), organ systems, the USMLE/COMLEX library “learn pages” and within our Quiz Builder. The questions have been purposefully updated to help contextualize learning, reflect the appropriate style and level of difficulty, include more inclusive language, and represent diverse patient encounters.

As a result, approximately 2,000 of our older, lower-quality questions will be retired on December 22, 2022, which may affect the experiences of some of our returning learners. However, the good news is that those items have been updated by other, more timely content!

Osmosis USMLE Step 2 question quiz builder

New quiz builder experience and thoroughly revised question bank

The Osmosis quiz builder makes it easy for learners to build custom quizzes based on their specific needs. All of the Osmosis questions have been reviewed, updated, and re-categorized to align with Step 1/Pre-clinical/Foundational Sciences and Step 2/Clinical Practice quiz categories to better correspond to our learner’s education needs. As of December 22, 2022, the old Quiz Builder tool will be retired, and replaced by the new and improved version. (Curious? Start using the new quiz-builder.)

Improved alignment of questions with Osmosis videos

We know how much our learners love Osmosis videos, and with that in mind, we’ve taken a look across every step of the learning journey, assessing how USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK-style information corresponds to the content in our videos and revamping them as needed. We’ve also included quick recall questions to support learning essential anatomy concepts, and we’re adding hundreds of amazing new Step 2 Clinical Practice questions to the site in Spring 2023, and we can’t wait to see how they work for you!

All of these changes are now live for the Osmosis MD/DO library, which means the navigation might look slightly different across Osmosis due to content updates to videos that are applicable for all of our learners.
