We’re celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Raise the Line podcast! Launched in the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown with Osmosis co-founder Shiv Gaglani and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rishi Desai serving as hosts, its original purpose was to provide listeners with evidence-based information about the coronavirus and facilitate a conversation about how to strengthen healthcare systems as the world grappled with the greatest public health crisis. The podcast has evolved into an ongoing discussion of how to improve health and healthcare with leading figures in medicine, education, technology, science, publishing, and public policy, as well as frontline healthcare providers, health system leaders, entrepreneurs, and health professions faculty and students.
Over the past five years, we’ve released 525 episodes featuring three hundred hours of conversation with notable guests like Chelsea Clinton, Mark Cuban, and White House COVID Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha, as well as senior leaders at organizations like the CDC, National Institutes of Health, World Health Organization, American Medical Association (and many other leading professional societies in healthcare) and a long list of medical school programs including Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University, Trinity College Dublin, University of Newcastle, Bar-Ilan University, and the University of Global Health Equity.
Raise the Line guests discuss a wide range of topics, including public health, digital health, medical education, healthcare reform, artificial intelligence and other advances in technology, nursing, provider burnout and workforce issues, women’s health, mental and behavioral health, online learning, drug development, health equity, rare diseases, chronic illnesses, holistic medicine, home care, and many others.
The podcast has been especially devoted to increasing awareness of rare diseases through its Year of the Zebra interviews and elevated the voices of future healthcare providers in the NextGen Journeys series.
In addition to Shiv and Rishi, hosts over the last five years include Lindsey Smith, Hillary Acer, Caleb Furnas, Maria Pfrommer, Kelsey LaFayette, Liz Lucas, Derek Apanovitch, and Jannah Amiel.
We’re looking forward to bringing you many more thoughtful conversations that illuminate the perspectives, actions, and innovations of people who care deeply about creating a healthcare system that provides quality care to all. If you have ideas for future guests to feature, please submit them HERE.
