Summary of Neuron action potential
An action potential is defined as a brief depolarization of the membrane of an excitable cell followed by a repolarization towards the resting membrane potential. In excitable cells such as nerve and muscle cells, action potentials are the basis for information transmission.

When action potentials jump from one node of Ranvier to the next it is known as conduction.
